Cookie Policy

CrestWell Accountants and Advisors, a Chartered Accountancy practice in Crawley, West Sussex, uses essential cookies to run this website and, only if you agree, analytics cookies from Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used. We use no advertising cookies. This page lists each one, what it does and how long it lasts, and explains how to change your choice at any time.

Last updated: 28 October 2026

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on crestwellaccountants.com, what each one does, and how to change your choices. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information more generally.

What these technologies are

A cookie is a small file stored on your device by a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and tracking scripts, which do comparable things. We use the word cookies below to cover all of them.

Your choices

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you are happy for us to use analytics cookies. Accept and Reject are equally easy, and nothing other than essential cookies is used until you choose. If you reject, or close the banner without choosing, the site works exactly the same.

You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Turning analytics off removes the analytics cookies it set. We ask you again about every six months, or sooner if we change the tools listed here.

The categories

Essential. These keep the website working and secure, protect the enquiry form from spam, and remember choices you have made yourself, such as your cookie choice and your display options. They cannot be switched off here, but you can block or delete them in your browser.

Analytics. Off unless you turn it on. Google Analytics counts the pages viewed, where visitors arrive from and where they leave, which sends some information to Google. Microsoft Clarity replays visits (mouse movement, clicks and scrolling) and builds heatmaps, so we can see where the site confuses people. Typing and form fields are masked before anything leaves your browser. We use these to improve the website, never to advertise to you, and your data is never sold. Both are set up with advertising storage turned off.

The cookies we use

Essential

Name Set by What it does How long it lasts
site_consent This website Remembers the cookie choice you made, so we do not ask on every page. It records the choice, the date and the version of this list, and nothing that identifies you 6 months
begin-a11y-v1 This website (local storage) Remembers the display options you chose, such as text size, spacing, contrast, underlined links and reduced motion, so the site looks the same next time on this device. It is only set if you change a display option, and is never sent to a server Until you press Reset all, or clear your browser storage
enquiry-source This website (session storage) Remembers the page you arrived on and the site or campaign that sent you, for this visit only, so that if you send an enquiry we know how you found us. It is only sent with an enquiry you choose to send Until you close the tab
Cloudflare Web Analytics Cloudflare Counts page views without setting a cookie or storing anything on your device. Your IP address is used briefly to deliver the count and is not kept Nothing is stored on your device
Cloudflare Turnstile Cloudflare Checks that the enquiry form is being sent by a person rather than a program. It does not set a cookie for its own purposes Nothing is kept after the check

Analytics (only if you agree)

Name Set by What it does How long it lasts
_ga Google Analytics Tells one visitor apart from another so visits can be counted 2 years
_ga_Q30HQGE3GJ Google Analytics Keeps track of the current visit 2 years
_clck, _clsk Microsoft Clarity Ties the pages of one visit together for the replay and heatmaps Set by Microsoft, which does not publish the lifetime
CLID, MUID, ANONCHK, MR, SM Microsoft Clarity, on Microsoft's own domains Used by Microsoft to run Clarity. Microsoft describes MUID as also used for advertising; we load Clarity with advertising storage turned off Set by Microsoft, which does not publish the lifetime

Google Tag Manager, which loads Google Analytics, sets no cookies of its own, and is only loaded once you agree to analytics.

Cookies set by other companies

Apart from Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which only run if you agree, we do not allow any other company to set cookies on this website for its own purposes. Our website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare. Google and Microsoft are both based in the United States; how that transfer is protected is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Managing cookies in your browser

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may stop parts of this or any other website working properly, and if you delete the site_consent cookie we will ask for your choice again.
